Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support in a local secondary school. The role is full-time, long-term but term-time only, with guaranteed weekly pay and immediate start.

You will work closely with students with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH, helping them access the curriculum through personalised strategies. You will support EHCP targets, build emotional regulation and social skills, and collaborate with school staff and external therapists to monitor

Qualifications

• Empathetic, patient and resilient individual capable of supporting students with SEND.
• Experience in schools, care, youth work, or lived SEND experience is valued.
• Willing to obtain/enhanced DBS and commit to safeguarding pupils.

Responsibilities

• Work 1:1 to implement EHCP targets using sensory breaks, visual timetables, and simplified tasks.
• Provide emotional coaching to develop self-regulation and social confidence.
• Collaborate with the SENCO, parents and external therapists to track progress and adjust support.
• Advocate for inclusion and pupil welfare in school life.

Your Role as a 1:1 Specialist

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you are the bridge between the curriculum and the students unique way of learning.

• Personalised Support: Work 1:1 to implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets using sensory breaks, visual timetables, and simplified tasks.
• Emotional Coaching: Assist students in developing self:regulation skills and social confidence in a mainstream or resource:base setting.
• Collaborative Reporting: Work closely with the SENCO, parents, and external therapists to track progress and adjust support strategies.
• Inclusion Advocacy: Ensure every student, regardless of their needs, feels safe, valued, and included in school life.
