SEND Teaching Assistant - Chorley
We are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our specialist SEND school in Chorley, which supports pupils with a range of complex learning needs. The children require patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for helping every individual thrive in their own way.
As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with class teachers and other support staff to provide tailored support to pupils aged 2-19 with a variety of complex needs, including autism, medical needs, communication difficulties, and cognitive challenges. Your role will be vital in creating a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting individual and small groups of pupils in and outside of the classroom.
Assisting with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, where required.
Promoting communication, emotional regulation, and independence.
Using a range of communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC (training provided).
Building trusting relationships with pupils and working collaboratively with families and professionals.
A background in care (e.g., healthcare, support work, or similar) is highly desirable - your transferable skills are invaluable.
A warm, patient, and adaptable personality - a sense of humour helps too!
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Experience working with SEND or vulnerable children is beneficial but not essential - we value character as much as qualifications.
A willingness to undertake personal care duties with dignity and respect.
Supportive leadership and a committed staff team.
Opportunities to progress within a growing school network.
If you're passionate about making a meaningful impact and ready for a rewarding challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
