SEND Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision
Location: Barking and Dagenham
Salary:£100/day (dependent on experience & qualifications)
Start Date: ASAP / May 2025
Contract: Full-time, Mon–Fri, Term Time Only

About the Role
Connex Education is partnering with a respected alternative provision school in Barking and Dagenham to recruit a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant. You will support pupils with diverse needs, including SEMH, ASD, and behavioural challenges, in a structured, nurturing environment. Your role will focus on fostering emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support for pupils, especially with SEMH/ASD
  • Use positive strategies to manage challenging behaviour
  • Implement EHCP targets and individual learning plans
  • Support classroom and off-site learning, ensuring safety and structure
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and support staff

Requirement

  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, ASD, or behavioural needs
  • Team Teach/de-escalation training (preferred)
  • Current DBS (on update service) or willingness to apply
