Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Shaftesbury, Dorset Salary: £95 per day Contract Type: Full-Time We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant to join a thriving primary school in the idyllic town of Shaftesbury, Dorset. This is a full-time position, perfect for an individual who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young learners with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities. Key Responsibilities: - Work one-to-one or with small groups of pupils, addressing their individual learning needs and fostering their academic, social, and emotional development. - Assist in the preparation and delivery of individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the class teacher and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator. - Create and maintain a supportive environment that enhances learning and inclusion, allowing each student to achieve their potential. - Utilise a variety of strategies and resources, tailored to the individual needs of each child, to support their learning objectives. - Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and reporting any concerns as appropriate. - Facilitate communication between the school, parents, and students, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged in the student's education. - Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of SEND. Requirements: - Experience working with primary-aged children, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities. - NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. - Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and commitment to child welfare. - Empathetic and patient approach, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies. - Enhanced DBS check (or willing to undergo this process).
