Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a passionate SEND Teacher to support children and young people with hearing impairment, SLCN and ASC. You will teach pupils aged 2–19, delivering personalised lessons to develop communication, confidence and independence.

The role requires Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience with SEND. A supportive multi-disciplinary team, ongoing specialist SEND training and career progression opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience or knowledge of SEND, particularly HI, SLCN, ASC, and social communication difficulties would be advantageous.
• Strong caring, patient and nurturing approach essential for supporting pupils with diverse needs.
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and professionals and deliver engaging, child-centred learning.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to each pupil's communication needs, supporting learners from Early Years through to Post-16.
• Work closely with teaching assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Teachers of the Deaf, families and other professionals.
• Create an inclusive environment where every child can flourish and reach their communication goals.

Are you a passionate SEND Teacher committed to supporting children and young people with hearing impairment, speech, language and communication needs? We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and adaptable teacher to join our specialist team, working with pupils aged 2–19 years.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help children develop the communication skills, confidence and independence they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

You will deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to each pupil's communication needs, supporting learners from Early Years through to Post-16. Working closely with teaching assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Teachers of the Deaf, families and other professionals, you'll create an inclusive environment where every child can flourish.

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential).
• Has experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly:
• Hearing Impairment (HI)
• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Social Communication Difficulties
• Has a caring, patient and nurturing approach.
• Builds strong relationships with pupils, families and professionals.
• Delivers engaging, child-centred learning that promotes communication, confidence and independence.
• Is creative, adaptable and committed to inclusive education.

Experience or knowledge of the following would be advantageous:

• Makaton
• British Sign Language (BSL)
• PECS
• Signalong
• AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication)
• Intensive Interaction
• Attention Autism
• Total Communication approaches
• Visual communication strategies and sensory communication techniques
• Working alongside Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT)
• Supporting pupils with hearing aids or cochlear implants
