About the Role
Connex Education is working with a growing and dynamic SEN Primary School in Barking & Dagenham, recruiting for passionate and experienced SEND Teachers (QTS) to join their team full-time. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated educator to work with pupils with a range of complex needs in a supportive and innovative environment.

The school is a thriving special educational needs (SEN) institution catering to students aged 4 to 16 with a variety of complex needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, and communication disorders.

The school offers a personalized curriculum tailored to the individual needs of its learners, with a strong focus on social inclusion, emotional development, and mental health. Equipped with modern facilities, including a sports hall, food technology room, sensory room, and ICT suite, the school fosters a stimulating learning environment.

Collaboration with parents and external professionals is central to their ethos, ensuring every child develops independence and resilience to achieve their full potential.

Assignment Details

  • Full-time, long-term roles starting ASAP
  • Monday – Friday (Term Time Only)

Person Specification
We are looking for an exceptional SEND Teacher who meets the following criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential, with experience in SEN or mainstream schools.
  • Experience with SEND Learners: Proven experience teaching pupils with SEND, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or moderate/severe learning difficulties.
  • Knowledge of Differentiation: Ability to deliver and adapt lessons to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Familiarity with a range of SEND strategies and specialized teaching approaches.
  • Personal Care and Physical Needs: Willingness to support pupils with personal care or physical needs where required.
  • Collaboration Skills: Experience working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals.
  • Resilience and Adaptability: Patience and flexibility to handle challenging behaviors and create a positive classroom environment.
  • DBS Check: A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to provide a new one.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in using alternative communication systems, such as Makaton or PECS.
  • Familiarity with strategies for managing sensory processing needs and behavior.
