Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking SEND Teachers to work across specialist schools in Durham and surrounding areas. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils with diverse needs, including Autism and SEMH, while collaborating with TAs and other professionals.

Ideal applicants hold QTS or an equivalent qualification, are patient, and can adapt teaching to individual needs. SEND experience is welcomed though not essential for ECTs and mainstream teachers exploring specialist

SEND Teacher – Durham

Protocol Education is currently recruiting SEND Teachers to work across a range of specialist schools and provisions in Durham and the surrounding areas.

This is a fantastic opportunity for passionate teachers who want to develop their experience within Special Educational Needs and make a meaningful difference to children and young people.

You may already have experience working within SEND, or you could be an ECT or mainstream teacher looking to take the next step into specialist education.

About the Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that are accessible to pupils with a range of additional needs.

You may support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, communication difficulties and complex learning needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and accessible lessons
  • Differentiating learning to meet individual needs and abilities
  • Supporting pupils to achieve their EHCP targets
  • Creating a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Managing behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants and other professionals
  • Monitoring pupil progress and adapting teaching accordingly
