Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd is recruiting SEND Teachers to work across Durham and surrounding areas, supporting a range of specialist schools and provisions. You will create engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual EHCP targets and work with Teaching Assistants and SENCOs to support pupils' development.

We welcome both experienced SEND Teachers and ECTs transitioning into SEND, with full support provided.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification is required.
  • Experience with children/youth with SEND is desirable.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills essential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Differentiate the curriculum to ensure all pupils can access learning.
  • Support pupils with a range of SEND needs.
  • Develop positive relationships and create a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Monitor progress and contribute towards EHCP targets.

SEND Teacher – Durham
Are you a passionate teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs?

Protocol Education is currently recruiting SEND Teachers to work across Durham and the surrounding areas, supporting a range of specialist schools and provisions.

Whether you are an experienced SEND Teacher, an ECT looking to develop your skills, or a mainstream teacher considering a move into SEND, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will have the opportunity to work with pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, communication and learning difficulties.

You will be responsible for creating engaging and accessible lessons that are tailored to individual pupils' needs, abilities and EHCP targets.

You will be:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons adapted to individual learning needs
  • Differentiating the curriculum to ensure all pupils can access learning
  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs
  • Developing positive relationships with pupils and creating a safe, inclusive classroom environment
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs and other professionals
  • Supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development
  • Using a range of strategies to manage behaviour positively
  • Monitoring progress and contributing towards individual targets and EHCP outcomes
What We're Looking For

We are keen to hear from teachers who have:

  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to differentiate and adapt learning
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

ECTs and teachers from mainstream backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Full support will be provided when transitioning into a specialist SEND setting.
