Job summary

PK Education is recruiting a caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Sheffield (S8). You will work with children with SEND, including Autism, PMLD and ADHD, providing one-to-one and small-group support to access learning and develop independence.

The role emphasises teamwork with teachers and SEND professionals, implementing individual learning plans, using visual supports, and promoting a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Experience supporting children with Autism, PMLD and/or ADHD.
• Patient, compassionate and able to build trusting relationships.
• Understanding of individualised support and inclusive education.
• Able to manage challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Adaptable, resilient and eager to learn.
• Commitment to helping pupils reach their potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils with Autism, PMLD and ADHD in accessing the curriculum.
• Implement individual learning plans and support strategies.
• Use communication strategies, including visual supports and aids.
• Support social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Promote independence and engagement in learning.
• Assist with personal care, mobility and practical needs.
• Support pupils with sensory needs and create an inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and parents.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff.
• Follow safeguarding and health & safety policies.
