Job summary

Autism Initiatives is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Apprentice for Peterhouse School, Southport. The role is 35 hours per week, term time only, with pay of £12.70/hour for the first 6 months, rising to £14.86/hour thereafter, and an apprenticeship lasting up to 18 months, commencing February 2027.

You will support children aged 5–19 with autism across classes, learn various teaching approaches, reflect on feedback, and contribute to helping students become independent, successful adults

Qualifications

• At least 1 year full-time equivalent experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role.
• Experience in SEND/learning support is desirable.
• Be eligible to work in England and reside in England for the duration of the apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Support children aged 5–19 with autism across classes.
• Learn approaches and strategies to overcome barriers to learning.
• Reflect and respond to feedback to improve practice.
