Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Milton Keynes from September 2026. This full-time, permanent role offers the opportunity to support children with a range of additional needs in a nurturing learning environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and support staff to provide tailored support, promote inclusion, and help pupils access learning and achieve their individual goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
  • Patient, caring and empathetic approach to support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Desirable Level 2/3 TA qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Support pupils with needs including ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual pupil needs and promote inclusion.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence, communication and social development.
  • Support EHCPs and individual learning targets.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, therapists and parents to support progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and a safe learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and contribute to wider school life.

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them achieve their full potential? We are working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Milton Keynes that is seeking to appoint a compassionate and dedicated SEND TA to join their team from September 2026 on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to support children with a range of additional needs in a nurturing learning environment where every child is encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Role

As a SEND TA, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to provide tailored support that enables pupils with additional needs to access learning and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Support children with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs and promote inclusion within the classroom.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence, communication, and social development.
  • Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning targets.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and parents to support pupil progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and contribute to the wider life of the school.
Who We're Looking For
  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school, nursery, childcare, or similar setting is desirable.
  • A patient, caring, and empathetic approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • A flexible, proactive, and resilient attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
