Job summary

Leeds City College, part of Luminate Education Group, seeks a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join the Education and Early Years Department at Quarry Hill Campus in Leeds. The role involves delivering planned lessons, supervising classes and supporting teaching staff to maintain a positive learning environment.

You will contribute to student progress for ages 16–19, assist with resources and participate in duties to ensure smooth department operations. This is a reduced year role with pro rata pay.

Qualifications

• Experience in primary school or early years sector.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to deliver planned lessons and support learners aged 16–19.
• Reliable, professional and adaptable to changing situations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes using pre-set work and keep students engaged.
• Clarify instructions and provide academic support during cover sessions.
• Record attendance and report progress to relevant staff.
• Support a caseload of students and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with curriculum teams to ensure consistency in delivery.
• Adapt to cover lessons across different course levels.
• Participate in invigilation, enrichment or pastoral duties.
• Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment and attend internal meetings.
