Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting SEND Support Workers to support pupils aged 4-19 with PMLD at a school in Ashington. You’ll provide 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils feel safe, understood and included in their learning.

Roles are available full-time and part-time with training provided, including Moving and Handling, Toileting, PEG feeding; a calm, patient approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experienced Support Workers who are open to working with children would fit this role perfectly due to the complex needs of the children who attend this school.
  • Prior experience in personal care is advantageous.
  • Patience, caring and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to individual needs.

SEND Support Worker - School Based (Young People)


Location: Ashington


Full-time and Part-time opportunities available


Milk Education is working with a large SEND specialist provision in the Ashington area to recruit SEND Support Workers who genuinely want to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with a range of profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).


This role is suited to individuals who are patient, caring and passionate about supporting children to feel safe, understood and included in their learning. As A school SEND Support Worker, you will work with pupils who may be non-verbal, have physical disabilities, or require high levels of personalised support - so a calm, non-judgemental approach and strong communication skills are essential.


Both full-time and part-time positions are available, offering flexibility to suit your availability.

Person Specification


  • Experienced Support Workers who are open to working with children would fit this role perfectly due to the complex needs of the children who attend this school

  • Previous experience adminstering personal care is advantaegous

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

  • A patient, caring and non-judgemental approach to supporting others

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to individual needs

  • Ability to work proactively, both independently and as part of a team

  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply)
