Job summary

Queen Katherine School in Kendal now seeks an enthusiastic Assistant to the SENCO to join our inclusive team. You will work closely with the SENCO to lead a team of Learning Support Assistants and coordinate high‑quality SEND provision across the school.

In this role you will chair Annual Reviews, develop Learning Action Plans, liaise with families and external agencies, and monitor intervention outcomes while safeguarding and maintaining robust SEND records.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or QTS required.
• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
• Experience supporting children and young people with a range of learning needs.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff and external professionals.
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Committed to inclusion and helping every student thrive.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Learning Support Assistants.
• Coordinate and deliver effective SEND provision and interventions.
• Chair and record Annual Reviews where appropriate.
• Develop Learning Action Plans and student passports.
• Liaise with families, pastoral teams and external agencies.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and support programmes.
• Ensure SEND records and documentation are maintained to a high standard.
• Contribute to staff development and promote inclusive practice across the school.
