Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking a Project Officer to support the Designated Clinical Officer for SEND, working across NHS and local authority partners to deliver SEND reforms. The role is based at Farnham House, Stevenage, with 2–3 days a week in the office and regular travel to NHS sites as required by partnership work.

The post holder will coordinate governance, maintain plans, risks and actions, and support reporting through the Programme Management Office.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience coordinating projects using established PM methods, tools and documentation.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret data and present insights clearly.
  • Ability to engage a range of stakeholders and communicate effectively.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; ability to produce high‑quality reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and practical implementation abilities.
  • Proficient digital ICT skills to support delivery, reporting and engagement.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality work.
  • Collaborative mindset to work across local authority and health organisations.
  • Resilience and adaptability in complex, evolving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated project support to the Designated Clinical Officer for SEND and coordinate local authority and health activity, timelines, milestones and documentation.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, presentations and data summaries using established tools and PM systems.
  • Analyse project data to identify trends and inform decision-making and progress tracking.
  • Organise and support project meetings, schedule activities, prepare materials and capture decisions.
  • Support planning and delivery of workshops and engagement activities with partners and stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of contact for project queries and escalate issues as needed.
  • Maintain consistent communications with Project Managers and Improvement Managers to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor progress to align activity with objectives.
  • Work across Council and NHS information systems and diary management.
