Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for aSEND Passenger Assistant/Drivers to join our healthcare transportation team based in Redhill.

This role involves transporting children with Special Educational and Disability Needs (SEND) to and from healthcare or educational facilities. It's a rewarding yet challenging opportunity where you can quickly become a valuable member of our team.

The position entails working Monday to Friday during term time only. Shifts are split between06:00-09:00 and 15:00-18:00(shift times are examples and may vary based on travel time), totalling 20-30 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist children with special educational needs during transport to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Driving carefully and considerately to safely drive children to and from their place of education using our vehicles.
  • Support children in boarding and alighting from the vehicle, providing any necessary physical assistance.
  • Maintain a calm and positive environment during transport, addressing any behavioural or emotional needs that may arise.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and school staff regarding transportation arrangements.
  • Ensure all safety EMED protocols are followed, including the use of seat belts and appropriate seating arrangements.
  • Familiar with the safeguarding policies.
  • Report any incidents or concerns promptly to your line Manager/Operations Manager.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

Do you have what it takes? A great SEND Passenger Assistant will be required to;

  • You will need afull UK driving licencewith no more than three penalty points
  • Pass a DVLA D4 Medical.
  • Obtain and hold a PHV Licence (we can help you obtain this)
  • Deliver excellent customer service
  • Display a calm, considerate and careful driver behaviour.
  • Be an effective and confident communicator
  • Naturally demonstrate team collaboration
  • Pass an Enhanced DBS check which is fully funded by EMED Group
