Job summary

East Kent Colleges Group is seeking a SEND Officer in Canterbury to shape the learning journey for learners with additional needs. You will chair EHCPS meetings, manage risk data and safeguarding, and oversee in-class and out-of-class support across vocational areas.

The role requires experience in SEN/Care, SEMH awareness, and proficiency with communication aids like Makaton and visual supports. Strong collaboration with schools is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in the SEN or Care sector is essential.
• Experience supporting learners with challenging behaviour and SEMH.
• Ability to use communication aids such as Makaton and symbols.

Responsibilities

• Support the SEND student journey from pre-enrolment to full college experience.
• Chair EHCPS meetings and manage risk data and safeguarding processes.
• Coordinate in-class and out-of-class support across vocational areas.
• Liaise with schools to ensure smooth transitions and health plans.
