Job summary

We Do Social Work Recruitment, on behalf of a Local Authority, seeks an experienced SEND Needs Assessment Plan Writer to join a busy SEND team.

You'll manage statutory assessments, draft EHCPs, coordinate multi-agency input and ensure plans are timely, person-centred and aligned with the SEND Code of Practice.

Hybrid working and full-time hours are available, with supportive colleagues and dedicated consultant support throughout your placement.

Qualifications

  • Experience writing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Experience in SEND service, Local Authority, education or public sector.
  • Strong understanding of SEND Code of Practice, Children and Families Act 2014 and EHCP assessment process.
  • Excellent written communication with the ability to produce clear, person-centred plans.
  • Experience collaborating with families, schools and multi-agency professionals.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and statutory deadlines.
  • Good IT skills and experience using case management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate advice from education, health and social care professionals.

We Do Social Work Recruitment is working on behalf of a Local Authority to recruit an experienced SEND Needs Assessment Plan Writer to join a busy and supportive SEND team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of the SEND statutory process and experience writing high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You'll play a vital role in ensuring children and young people receive the support they need through timely, person-centred assessments and plans.

The Role

As a SEND Needs Assessment Plan Writer, you will manage a caseload of statutory assessments, working closely with families, schools and multi-agency professionals to gather advice, coordinate assessments and produce high-quality EHCPs within statutory timescales.

You will facilitate co-production meetings, maintain accurate records and ensure every child and young person receives a personalised, outcome-focused plan that reflects their individual needs and aspirations.

About You

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Previous experience writing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Experience working within a SEND service, Local Authority, education or public sector environment.
  • A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, Children and Families Act 2014 and the EHCP assessment process.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, person-centred plans.
