Job summary

Lift Clacton is seeking a SEND Mentor to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them build confidence, independence and effective study skills. You will work with individuals and small groups, delivering targeted interventions in collaboration with the SEND team and classroom staff to remove barriers to learning and foster resilient, capable learners.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in education.
• Understanding of SEND and barriers to learning.
• Ability to work with individuals and small groups; build positive relationships.
• Strong communication and time-management; maintain records and monitor progress.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Organise and deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions focused on self-regulation, confidence, resilience and independence.
• Help students understand learning profiles and develop effective learning and study strategies.
• Create SMART targets, monitor progress and review the impact of interventions.
• Provide practical advice, guidance and support to students with SEND, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Work closely with the SENDCo, Assistant SENDCo and teachers to share effective strategies and support adaptive teaching in the classroom.
• Plan and facilitate out-of-class learning opportunities for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Support students' inclusion and participation in educational visits and wider school activities; and
• Maintain accurate records of interventions, targets and student progress.
