Job summary

Morgan Hunt is recruiting a SEND Lecturer to join the Horizons team at Barking & Dagenham College in Romford. The role focuses on supporting learners aged 14-19 with SEND, delivering accessible lessons and building learner confidence.

You will plan inclusive lessons, teach Functional Skills English or Maths, and adapt materials to best meet individual needs while maintaining progress records and safeguarding best practices.

Qualifications

• Qualified teaching qualification: PGCE, QTS or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
• Experience teaching learners with SEND, particularly ages 14–19.
• Recent experience teaching and assessing Functional Skills English or Maths.
• Previous experience in a further education college.
• Knowledge of safeguarding legislation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver inclusive lessons tailored to learners' individual needs.
• Teach and assess Functional Skills English or Maths.
• Adapt teaching materials and approaches to support engagement and progression.
• Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate teaching and assessment records.
• Work closely with colleagues and support staff to create a positive learning environment.
• Promote safeguarding and learner wellbeing, following college policies and procedures.
