Job summary

Rothley Church of England Academy is seeking a calm and nurturing SEND Learning Support Assistant to support identified pupils in Foundation/KS1. The role involves helping pupils access the curriculum, build confidence and develop positive learning behaviours, and working with a supportive staff team.

Key responsibilities include coordinating learning and pastoral support, collaborating with teachers and SEN staff, and aiding social, emotional, and communication development in a warm, inclusive

Qualifications

  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach to supporting young pupils.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Understanding of early childhood development and Foundation/KS1 expectations.
  • Commitment to supporting individual pupil needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide learning and pastoral support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Support the pupil to access the curriculum, adapt activities when needed, and promote their engagement in learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals.
  • Use calm, consistent approaches to behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Support the pupil's social, emotional, and communication development.
  • Contribute to a positive, nurturing learning environment both inside and outside the classroom.
