Job summary

Educato Limited is partnering with a welcoming secondary school in Oldham to recruit a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to help pupils with SEND access the curriculum, participate in lessons and build academic, social and emotional skills.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, adapt resources for pupils with autism, ADHD and other needs, and work closely with teachers to implement individual learning plans. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally within a school or education setting.
• An understanding of the barriers some pupils face when accessing learning.
• A patient, encouraging and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence supporting young people with different learning styles and additional needs.
• A genuine passion for helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged pupils with SEND.
• Help pupils access classroom learning, understand instructions and complete activities.
• Support pupils with needs including autism, ADHD, communication difficulties and learning difficulties.
• Adapt learning resources and break tasks down into manageable steps to encourage engagement and understanding.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive relationships with peers and staff.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, organisation and maintaining focus during lessons.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and the SEND team to implement individual learning strategies and support plans.
• Monitor progress and share observations with relevant school staff.
