Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in a Tower Hamlets school. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to tailor support and enable access to the curriculum.

The role requires strong communication, DBS Enhanced, patience and a proactive approach. You will monitor progress, adapt materials, and help create an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEND in education or care settings.
  • Strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
  • Patience, empathy and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Excellent safeguarding awareness and DBS compliance.
  • Flexible and collaborative team player.
  • Current Enhanced DBS via Update Service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Support pupils with classroom activities, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and report concerns to the class teacher or SENCO.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs if required.

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in a school setting.   • Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils with SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Support pupils with classroom activities, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet the needs of individual pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and report concerns to the class teacher or SENCO.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs if required.
