Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking experienced SEND Intervention Tutors to provide 1:1 support to learners across Herefordshire accessing Alternative Provision and EOTAS. You will deliver tailored tuition across English, Maths and Science, while helping learners build confidence and progress in their education.

We are keen to hear from tutors with SEND/SEMH experience who can adapt their approach to meet individual needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Ability to deliver 1:1 tuition across English, Maths and Science.
• QTS/QLTS or relevant tutoring qualification is desirable, with experience considered.
• Enhanced DBS registered with Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 tuition and educational support to learners in Herefordshire.
• Deliver engaging tuition across English, Maths and Science with appropriate differentiation.
• Support learners with SEND/SEMH needs, including anxiety, autism or ADHD.
• Build positive relationships and adapt lessons to individual needs.
• Help learners develop confidence, engagement and independence.
• Support re-engagement with education and progress towards goals.
• Maintain records and report learner progress as required.

SEND Intervention Tutor - Herefordshire

Quantum Scholars are seeking experienced and dedicated SEND Tutors to provide 1:1 support and tuition to young people across Herefordshire who are accessing Alternative Provision and EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School).

This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people who may be unable to access mainstream education and require a more personalised approach to learning. You will work closely with individual learners, providing tailored educational support across English, Maths and Science, while helping them build confidence and make progress in their education.

We are keen to hear from tutors and education professionals who have experience working with children and young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs and who are confident adapting their approach to meet individual learning needs.

The Role

• Providing 1:1 tuition and educational support to young people accessing Alternative Provision and EOTAS.
• Delivering engaging and appropriately differentiated tuition across English, Maths and Science.
• Supporting learners with a range of SEND and SEMH needs, which may include anxiety, school refusal, autism, ADHD and behavioural needs.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with individual learners.
• Adapting lessons and learning activities to suit each young person's needs, ability and interests.
• Helping learners develop their confidence, engagement and independence.
• Supporting young people to re-engage with education and make progress towards their individual learning goals.
• Maintaining appropriate records and providing feedback on learner progress where required.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Experience delivering tuition or educational support on a 1:1 basis is desirable.
• Confident delivering tuition across English, Maths and Science.
• A patient, understanding and adaptable approach to supporting young people with additional needs.
• Ability to build positive relationships and engage learners who may have had difficulties accessing mainstream education.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• QTS, QTLS or a relevant teaching/tutoring qualification is desirable, but relevant experience will also be considered.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• The right to work in the UK.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Important Information

• Referral-based work - tuition is offered as and when suitable learner referrals are received.
• Term-time only.
• Availability during normal school hours is required.
• Sessions are generally delivered on a 1:1 basis and may take place in a learner's home, community setting or another agreed educational environment.
• The role is particularly suited to tutors who are looking for flexible work supporting young people with additional needs.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
