Job summary

Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking an experienced Inclusion and SEND Advisory Practitioner to support secondary and post-16 settings with SEND, welfare and pastoral needs.

You will work across education settings, guiding schools and services to implement timely provision, model support, deliver training, observe students, and contribute to developing inclusive practice and better outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within SEND, welfare or pastoral roles in secondary or post-16 settings.
• Knowledge of SEND legislation and procedures.
• Ability to communicate confidently with education professionals, families and other agencies.
• Experience delivering training and supporting transitions.

Responsibilities

• Provide signposting and support to settings to meet SEND needs at the earliest opportunity.
• Model support for children and young people with SEND alongside setting staff.
• Deliver training and Continuing Professional Development.
• Complete student observations and support transitions between phases.
• Attend relevant professionals’ meetings under guidance of Lead Inclusion and SEND Advisors.
• Promote inclusive practices for children and young people across settings.
