Job summary

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a SEND Improvement Officer/Specialist SEND Teacher to join the Education Inclusion Service to support borough-wide inclusion of children and young people with SEND.

The role focuses on consultation, interventions and strategies to promote successful outcomes, with emphasis on whole-school improvement and collaboration with schools and families.

Qualifications

• A relevant teaching and SENCO qualification.
• Up to date expertise and knowledge of SEND legislation and guidance.
• Experience in schools with children and young people who have SEND.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation, interventions and strategies to remove barriers to inclusion.
• Support whole school improvement and review SEND provision.
• Work with schools, settings, parents and carers to promote inclusion.
