Job summary

The Gainsborough Parish Church Primary School is seeking an experienced teacher to lead the SEND Hub, overseeing learning, wellbeing and outcomes for pupils with additional needs. The role involves developing an inclusive curriculum, coordinating with external agencies and supporting transition planning.

You will plan and deliver highly adapted lessons, assess pupil progress and work with the SENCo to review EHC plans, while promoting a supportive school ethos and safeguarding practises.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the SEND Hub on a day-to-day basis, fulfilling the specialist support and agreement between the school and the Local Authority.
• Develop the SEND Hub as an integral part of the school, including curriculum offer and high-quality provision for pupils with additional needs.
• Plan and teach inspirational, specialist and highly adapted lessons to pupils within the Hub.
• Use accurate assessment to promote at least expected progress and track pupil profiles.
• Provide a stimulating, nurturing and well-structured learning environment suitable for pupils with SEN.
• Champion the needs of pupils in the SEND Hub across the wider school and mainstream classes.
• Develop a bespoke, topic-based curriculum meeting academic, special and personal development needs.
• Participate in school development/improvement and keep up with national SEND developments.
• Direct support staff and liaise with external agencies to promote pupil progress.
• Support the SENCo in reviewing EHC Plans and targets for pupils in the Hub.
• Attend meetings to maintain multi-agency partnerships and ensure effective transitions.
• Plan SEND Hub lessons to engage pupils with activities appropriate to their level and needs.
• Develop robust records and monitoring to track pupil progress and identify gaps in learning.
• Contribute to whole school inclusive syllabuses, resources and teaching strategies.
• Establish partnerships with parents/carers to involve them in learning and share progress.
• Organise and deliver open events to welcome parents and carers to the SEND Hub.
• Support pupils and families to access educational opportunities and signpost to external agencies.
• Maintain detailed records of meetings with parents/carers and ensure safeguarding.
• Provide high quality support as part of a committed team.
• Maintain up-to-date recording systems for attendance, safeguarding and progress.
