Job summary

Pontville School, part of Witherslack Group, in Ormskirk, seeks a Family Liaison Officer to support families of pupils aged 5–19 with SEND. You’ll liaise with parents, carers and local authorities to plan practical, life-changing strategies and coordinate school visits and interviews.

You will work within a strong team, utilise your SEN background, and help families access local resources, ensuring smooth admissions and inductions while contributing to excellent OFSTED-rated outcomes.

Qualifications

• Previous SEN experience and experience working with families in challenging circumstances.
• Strong contacts within the local authority and education, social services and healthcare professionals.
• Experience of multi-agency work with safeguarding and child protection guidance.
• Genuine passion to enhance life opportunities for young people and families.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate visits to see parents and talk at length to develop coping strategies.
• Draw on local resources to direct families to additional support services.
• Organise and participate in admission interviews with the Head Teacher and ensure thorough inductions.
• Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive environment for pupils and families.
