Hertfordshire County Council in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead is seeking an experienced SEND EHC Team Lead to manage the School Age Statutory SEND Service on a 12‑month maternity cover basis. You will lead EHC Coordinators and Review Officers, ensuring timely, high‑quality statutory assessments and reviews for children with Education, Health and Care Plans.

You'll drive service improvement, supervise staff, and build strong partnerships with schools, families and partner agencies to secure the best

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of SEND legislation (Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice).
• Experience supervising and developing colleagues, with ability to motivate and build capability.
• Strong organisational and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Experience working across education, health and social care services.
• Degree-level qualification or equivalent.

Responsabilités

• Lead a team of EHC Coordinators and Review Officers.
• Oversee quality and timeliness of EHC plan reviews and statutory processes.
• Manage SEND casework within a defined locality area.
• Build strong relationships with schools, families and partner agencies.
• Support staff development through supervision, coaching and performance management.
• Contribute to service improvement, quality assurance and policy development.
• Maintain accurate records and performance information.
• Represent the local authority at SEND Tribunals where required.
• Collaborate with the wider SEND management team to drive consistent practice.
