Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking dedicated Complex Care Teaching Assistants to support pupils with complex needs across Birmingham’s SEND settings. You will work with classroom staff to provide personal care, manage behaviours, and promote inclusive learning in a structured environment that enables every child to thrive.

Qualifications

• Provide personal care and support to pupils with complex medical, physical and developmental needs.
• Support pupils with intimate care, including toileting, changing, feeding and personal hygiene, while maintaining dignity and respect.
• Assist with the safe administration of medication and delivery of agreed healthcare procedures, in line with training and school policies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pupils’ health and wellbeing, recognising changes in their condition and responding appropriately to medical needs.
• Support pupils with complex needs, including those with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and communication challenges.
• Work closely with teachers, nurses, therapists, families and other professionals to deliver individualised care and learning support.
• Follow individual healthcare plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and moving and handling guidance.
