Job summary

Luton Borough Council is seeking a SEND Assessment Officer to support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. You will work with families, schools and partner agencies to ensure needs are accurately assessed and met.

You will analyse education, health, psychology and social care advice to develop EHCPs, coordinate reviews and implement decisions. Collaboration with multi-agency teams and training on statutory SEND processes are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge and experience of statutory SEND assessment processes.
• Experience working with children and young people with SEN and collaborating with schools and partners.
• A relevant professional qualification in education or a degree-level qualification, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyse educational, medical, psychological and social care advice to develop and maintain EHCPs.
• Coordinate reviews and implement decisions relating to appropriate educational provision.
• Support effective disagreement resolution and represent the Council at SEND Tribunal when required.
