Job summary

Polaris Education - Easthorpe School is seeking an experienced SENCO to shape and lead the school’s SEND provision in an independent specialist setting in Nottinghamshire. The role focuses on developing policy, coordinating EHCP reviews and leading interventions for pupils aged 7–13 with SEMH and related needs.

The successful candidate will contribute to staff training, collaboration with parents and external agencies, and support school improvement while ensuring safeguarding and high standards

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• National Award for SEN Co-ordination (NASENCO) or willingness to undertake the current NPQ for SENCOs.
• Experience delivering EHCP annual reviews.
• Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
• Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning.
• Experience teaching pupils with Autism and/or SEMH and delivering staff training.

Responsibilities

• Develop SEN policy and provision across the school.
• Design and deliver targeted interventions to reduce attainment gaps.
• Assess and monitor pupils' progress in line with EHCPs.
• Coordinate and chair EHCP annual reviews.
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
• Attend multi-agency meetings and lead Early Help where appropriate.
• Lead Looked-After Children responsibilities and liaise with Headteacher and tutors.
• Coordinate day-to-day SEN provision and maintain accurate records.
• Support colleagues in teaching programmes and behaviour management.
• Work with tutors and external professionals to support pupil development.
• Engage with Local Offer and other services to support SEN provision.
