Job description

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to support and enhance the learning experience of students at a vibrant school in Finchley. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating SEN provision, working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed. This role begins April 2025.

Duties for a SENCO:
  • Lead and coordinate SEN provision for Year 2/3 students.
  • Identify and assess students with additional needs, implementing appropriate support strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt and differentiate lesson plans.
  • Develop and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to staff on SEN best practices.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) policies and procedures.
Ideal SENCO:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in primary education.
  • NASENCO qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience working with students with SEN, particularly in KS1 and KS2.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, EHCP processes, and intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organisational skills.
  • A passion for inclusive education and supporting diverse learning needs.
