Job summary

Academics is seeking a passionate SEN Tutor in Rushden to deliver personalised education to learners with SEN. The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group tuition, adapting to individual needs and EHCP outcomes, and building supportive relationships to help learners progress.

Ideal candidates have experience with ASD, SEMH, ADHD and related needs, with strong communication skills and the ability to commute to Rushden. Long-term assignments with a supportive team are offered.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• A strong understanding of additional learning needs and effective SEN strategies.
• Experience delivering 1:1 tuition, intervention or personalised learning is desirable.
• Ability to adapt your teaching style to suit different needs and learning profiles.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, personalised lessons based on individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes.
• Adapt teaching strategies to support learners with ASD, SEMH, ADHD, dyslexia, trauma-related needs and other additional needs.
• Provide effective 1:1 and small-group tuition.
• Plan and deliver differentiated learning activities that motivate and engage learners.
• Monitor, assess and accurately record learner progress.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Create a calm, safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Encourage confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitudes towards education.
• Identify and overcome barriers to learning through flexible and creative teaching approaches.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and other professionals to provide consistent support.
