Job summary

Prospero Teaching are seeking a dedicated SEN Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 tuition in Colchester. The learners may not be in mainstream education and may require tuition in English, Maths, Science or Functional Skills.

Qualifications

• QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or equivalent.
• 6 months+ experience working in a UK school.
• Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential)

SEN Tutor - Colchester

Prospero Teaching are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 tuition to a learner in Colchester. The students you may encounter may be not be in mainstream education for a variety of reasons. The students may need tuition in English, Maths, Science or Functional Skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tutor or teacher who is confident adapting lessons to suit individual needs and can build a positive, supportive relationship with a learner who may have experienced barriers to education. Often the successful candidate would be required to conduct lessons in the young person's home, in local council libraries, youth centres or other locations outside of the mainstream learning environment.

• Location - Colchester
• Position - SEN Tutor
• Type of work - Contract
• Start date - ASAP
• Duration / Likely Duration - dependent on each student

• Contract type - Temporary
• Full time/part time - Part time and full time depending on availability
• Minimum rate of pay - Minimum rate 25 per hour. The hourly rate will be in line with professional pay scales where these are available or based on experience if they are not available.
• Hours - Working hours can differentiate, minimum 1 hour per session and a maximum of 3 hours per session

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

• QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or equivalent
• 6 months+ experience working in a UK school
• Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential)

To be eligible for the SEN Tutor position through Prospero Teaching you must:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years

The successful candidate will be required to register and have passed all safeguarding/vetting checks with Prospero Teaching in order to fill this vacancy.
