Supply Personnel is recruiting caring, patient and experienced Teaching Assistants to support our client primary schools across Loughborough.

We have a range of opportunities available, including part-time, day-to-day supply assignments and full-time temporary positions within mainstream primary school settings. These roles involve supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, develop confidence and participate fully in school life.

Whether you are looking for flexible work to fit around your lifestyle or a full-time temporary role, we would love to hear from you!

The Role – SEN Teaching Assistant

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils with additional needs, helping to create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

  • One-to-one and small-group support: Providing individual assistance or working with small groups of pupils to help them engage with lessons and activities.
  • Supporting additional needs: Assisting children with a range of needs, which may include autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties and social, emotional or behavioural needs.
  • Supporting learning and development: Helping pupils understand classroom activities, follow instructions and work towards their individual learning targets.
  • Encouraging independence: Supporting children to develop their communication, social skills, confidence and independence.
  • Emotional and behavioural support: Helping pupils manage their emotions, regulate their behaviour and navigate challenging situations using positive and consistent approaches.
  • Adapting learning activities: Working alongside teachers to adapt classroom tasks and resources to suit individual learning needs.
  • Promoting inclusion: Encouraging pupils to participate in classroom activities, interact with their peers and feel included in the wider school environment.
  • Working as part of a team: Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff to ensure pupils receive appropriate and consistent support.
  • Providing a safe environment: Following school safeguarding procedures and ensuring pupils' welfare and wellbeing remain a priority.

The specific responsibilities will vary depending on the school, the age of the pupils and their individual support requirements.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about making a difference in children's lives and have the patience, understanding and commitment required to support pupils with additional needs.

  • Have previous experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • Be caring, patient, reliable and hard-working.
  • Have a positive, flexible approach and the ability to adapt to different school environments.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Be willing to provide at least two professional references, including a reference covering their most recent employment.
  • Be willing to complete annual safeguarding and anaphylaxis training.
