Job summary

Randstad Education Leeds is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND support assistant for a primary pupil in a North Sheffield school, starting this September. The role focuses on assisting learners with complex needs to access learning and participate fully in class activities.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team to implement plans, adapt resources, and support emotional regulation, promoting independence and confidence in pupils.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in care or school settings.
  • Patient, warm and highly resilient personality.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
  • Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong team player with a proactive approach to school life.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary pupil with complex needs (e.g., ASD/ADHD/SEMH).
  • Implement IEPs and behavior plans in partnership with the SENDCo.
  • Adapt resources and activities to make learning accessible and engaging.
  • Support emotional regulation and promote pupil independence through routines.
  • Record progress observations and report insights to the teaching team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary pupil with complex needs, such as ASD, ADHD, or SEMH.
  • Implement structured individual education and behavior plans in partnership with the SENDCo.
  • Assist in adapting classroom resources and activities to make learning accessible and engaging.
  • Support emotional regulation and promote pupil independence through structured routines and praise.
  • Record student progress observations and report insights directly to the teaching team.
Requirements for the Role
  • Practical experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEND), in care or school settings.
  • A patient, warm, and highly resilient personality capable of managing varied learning needs.
  • Good foundational qualifications (GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics).
  • An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or readiness to undergo a check).
  • Strong team player skills with a proactive approach to daily school life.
