Job summary

Polaris Community in Huddersfield seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 7 to 18 in a welcoming, resilient learning environment.

The role involves mentoring a small group or one pupil, assisting with lessons, reporting on progress, and helping with planning, supervision, and enrichment activities. DBS check will be completed before starting, and a commitment to professional development is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
• Experience in a Teaching Assistant role.
• Experience with SEMH in an educational setting.
• Willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check before commencing work.
• Committed to professional development.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (up to six).
• Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupil progress and concerns to colleagues.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time and school trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work where appropriate and mark.
• Build positive relationships to drive engagement and learning.
