Job summary

Reeson Education is sourcing an SEN Teaching Assistant for a welcoming school in Braintree, offering a full-time position from September. You will support students aged 16-19 with a range of additional learning needs in a well-resourced specialist setting.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide the tools students need to succeed academically and socially, helping develop communication and daily living skills in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people is desirable.
• Experience within an SEN setting welcomed but not essential.
• A patient and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• An interest in Special Educational Needs and education.
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom assistance to students aged 16-19.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
• Help students develop communication, social and independent living skills.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
• Work alongside teachers, therapists and parents to promote student progress.
• Support students with personal care where required.
• Maintain a safe and structured learning environment.
