Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary SEN school in Bury this September. You will support students aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs in a structured and nurturing environment.

Working closely with teachers and specialists, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, promote social and emotional development, and help students build confidence and independence while maintaining a safe learning setting in line with school policies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people.
• SEN experience desirable but not essential.
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN.
• Support learning and classroom engagement.
• Promote communication, social and emotional development.
• Build positive relationships with students.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Encourage independence and celebrate student progress.
• Work collaboratively with school staff and external professionals.
