Job summary

Randstad UK is partnering with an award-winning specialist school in Reigate to recruit a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant. You will support pupils with severe learning difficulties, complex physical disabilities, and varied learning needs in a warm, collaborative environment.

Choose flexible day-to-day supply shifts or a stable long-term contract, with hours 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Pay is £88-£93 per day, paid weekly, and DBS checks are required or processed on arrival.

Qualifications

• 3–6 months of direct experience working with SEN pupils or strong transferable care/healthcare background.
• Solid understanding of autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and/or complex physical disabilities.
• DBS Enhanced Child & Adult Workforce (Update Service) available or willingness to process it.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group academic and developmental support.
• Assist with physical accessibility, mobility and personal care needs.
• Support emotional regulation and independence in a safe, encouraging setting.
• Engage pupils in sensory activities, communication exercises and inclusive learning tasks.

The Role

In this hands-on position, you will work closely with classroom teachers and multidisciplinary teams to support pupils with diverse physical disabilities and complex learning needs. Your day will involve:

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group academic and developmental support.
• Assisting with physical accessibility, mobility, and personal care needs throughout the school day.
• Supporting emotional regulation and fostering independence in a safe, encouraging setting.
• Engaging pupils in sensory activities, communication exercises, and inclusive learning tasks.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: 3-6 months of direct experience working with SEN pupils OR strong transferable skills from care, support work, healthcare, or residential care backgrounds.
• Understanding: A solid understanding of autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and/or complex physical disabilities.
• DBS: An Enhanced Child & Adult Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one immediately).
• Travel: While the school is accessible via public transport links, holding a full driver's license and having access to a vehicle is preferred.
