Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary
Location: Tavistock
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: September 2025
Are you a caring, resilient, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Tavistock from September 2025.
This is a full-time, term-time only position, working closely with primary-aged pupils who require additional support to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their potential in a nurturing and structured environment.
Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH needs
Support class teachers in delivering tailored, engaging lessons and managing behaviour positively
Help pupils to regulate emotions and build social and communication skills
Assist with planning and preparation of learning resources and classroom activities
Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs
Experience working with children with additional needs, particularly in a primary setting
A nurturing, consistent, and patient approach to support behaviour and learning
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn
Relevant qualifications or training in SEN (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
