Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd. is recruiting a caring SEN Teaching Assistant in Gateshead to support pupils with Special Educational Needs from September. The role focuses on providing one-to-one support, adapting activities, and working with the SENCO to deliver personalised learning plans.

You will help create an inclusive and engaging learning environment, build relationships with pupils, and liaise with parents and professionals as needed. DBS enhanced is requested or to be obtained.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN in a school, childcare or care setting.
• Calm, patient and compassionate approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to inclusion and safeguarding.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality one-to-one support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Support children with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, learning needs and SEMH.
• Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver personalised learning programmes.
• Adapt classroom resources and activities to ensure all pupils can access learning.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
• Promote positive behaviour through consistent routines and nurturing approaches.
• Support pupils during lessons, interventions, playtimes and transitions throughout the school day.
• Observe and record pupil progress, contributing to reviews and support plans.
• Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals where appropriate.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment where every child can flourish.
