Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd is recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work within primary schools across Gateshead and surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity to support children with Special Educational Needs and help them build confidence, independence and social skills.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN within a school, nursery, care or support setting.
• A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build trusting relationships with children.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to individual pupil needs.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Support children with a range of additional needs including ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties and SEMH.
• Work collaboratively with class teachers and the school's SENCO to deliver personalised learning strategies.
• Adapt classroom resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Encourage pupils to engage positively in lessons and school life.
• Promote emotional wellbeing, confidence, communication and independence.
• Use positive behaviour management techniques to support pupils throughout the school day.
• Observe, monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff where required.
• Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and external professionals.
• Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
