Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Slough. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with special educational needs, adapting activities to meet individual needs and promoting confidence, independence and social skills.

You will work with teachers, SENCOs and parents to support pupil development while maintaining safeguarding and inclusive practices within a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Caring, patient and supportive approach to pupils
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and encourage confidence/independence
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as part of a wider school team
• Willingness to support pupils with additional needs and adapt to individual requirements
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs
• Support pupils with needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs
• Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning requirements
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills
• Support pupils' behaviour and wellbeing using positive strategies
• Assist with classroom activities and keep pupils engaged throughout lessons
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers
• Build positive relationships to create a safe, inclusive learning environment
• Support pupils during break times, lunchtimes, trips and school activities
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, parents and professionals to support pupil development and wellbeing
• Adhere to safeguarding policies at all times
