Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work across Derby schools, supporting children with special educational needs. The role focuses on 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils reach their potential in a nurturing environment.

You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs, implement IEPs, promote positive behaviour, and adapt learning materials. DBS check via update service is required or obtainable through Aspire People; strong communication and teamwork are

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience preferred).
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Aspire People)

About the Role:

Aspire People are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Derby. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them reach their full potential in a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
• Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development
• Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement individual education plans (IEPs)
• Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive, safe learning environment
• Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning materials as needed

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience preferred)
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to adapt to different school settings and pupil needs
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Aspire People)
