Job summary

Aspire People in Derby are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across local schools on flexible-term placements. You will assist teachers, support one-to-one or small groups, and help children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.

The role requires reliability, patience and strong communication. You will work with dedicated staff and benefit from guidance on CV and interview techniques, plus a refer-a-friend scheme.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN setting.
• Enthusiastic, reliable, patient and compassionate.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
• One-to-one or small group support for pupils needing additional help
• Support pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties
• Help manage behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation
• Encourage and support pupils to build confidence and independence
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to meet needs
• Contribute to a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment

Pay: Competitive daily rates (based on experience and role responsibilities)

Your Role Will Involve

• Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
• Working one-to-one or in small groups with students who require additional support
• Supporting pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
• Helping manage behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
• Providing encouragement and support to help pupils develop their confidence and independence
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to meet individual student needs
• Contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
