Job summary

Alt Academy is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs. The role involves understanding barriers to learning and implementing effective strategies to help pupils progress, along with developing learning resources to scaffold outcomes.

Candidates should have or be working towards an NVQ 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent, with literacy and numeracy at Level 1. Experience with children in relevant age groups and strong communication with parents are essential.

Qualifications

• Passion and commitment to working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
• Understanding barriers to learning for children with SEN and using effective strategies.
• Experience developing learning resources that scaffold and support learning.
• Awareness of child development and how children learn.
• Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age to those in the school.
• Ability to liaise with parents and carers sensitively and effectively.

Job description

Thesuccessfulcandidatewill have:

• Awareness of child development and knowledge of how children learn

• Experienceofworkingwithor caringforchildrenofarelevantagetothosein theschool

• Communication skills to liaise sensitively and effectively with parents and carers

• NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience

• Literacy and Numeracy skills equivalent to Level 1 of the National Qualification & Credit Framework

• Completion of Department for Education Teaching Assistant Induction Programme (orto complete within first term)
