Job summary

Hays Education is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to start immediately in Birmingham and Sandwell. Roles are available long-term, from one term up to the full academic year; full-time preferred, with part-time options as well.

Many schools are accessible by public transport; driving is advantageous. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support children with specific educational needs on a 1:1 or small-group basis, across various age groups.

Qualifications

  • SEN experience within childcare environments such as schools or nurseries.
  • Experience with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Global Delay, and challenging behaviours is desirable.
  • Flexibility and commitment to supporting the child for the required duration.

Responsibilities

  • Support SEN students on a 1:1 or small-group basis in Birmingham and Sandwell.
  • Work with children across specified age groups and educational needs.
  • Be flexible and dependable to cover term-long or long-term placements.

Job description

Hays Education works closely with many mainstream schools across the Birmingham and Sandwell areas, providing teaching assistant support on a day-to-day and long-term basis. There is currently a high demand for SEN specialist Teaching Assistants and jobs are available on a temporary and permanent basis. Working with Hays on a supply basis, means that you can work the hours that suit you and your work/life balance.

Your new role

Hays are currently recruiting for SEN Teaching Assistants to start immediately in Birmingham and Sandwell. These jobs are available on a long-term basis, which means you could be working from one term up to the whole academic year. Ideally, you will be available full-time. However, part-time options are also available.

Many of the schools are easily accessible by public transport. However, it would be an advantage if you do drive. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be required to work with children of specific age groups and educational needs on a 1:1 or small group basis.

What you'll need to succeed

You must have SEN experience within a childcare environment, including schools, nurseries and social care settings. Ideally, you will have worked with children that are diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Global Delay and those that present challenging behaviours.

You must be flexible and should you be successful in securing an SEN TA job, you will be committed to supporting the child for the length of time required.
