Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Rubery (B45), Birmingham
Location: Rubery, Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Pay: From 90 per day (PAYE - no umbrella deductions)

Long Term Futures is working in partnership with a small, well-regarded secondary school in the Rubery area of Birmingham. With around 450 students on roll, the school offers a welcoming and inclusive environment where staff are committed to supporting every learner to succeed.

We are seeking a proactive and dependable SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team, working within mainstream classrooms to provide support for students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other learning or emotional challenges.



What You'll Be Doing:

  • Providing targeted support for students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom

  • Supporting students' emotional regulation and social development

  • Working closely with class teachers to differentiate learning and ensure access to the curriculum

  • Monitoring progress and feeding back on individual student needs

  • Encouraging independence, resilience, and engagement in learning



What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEN in a school setting

  • A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude to daily challenges

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

  • Patience, empathy, and a team-focused approach

  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) is desirable, but not essential if you have the right experience and outlook
